East Brunswick Sustainable House Renovation
Alterations & Additions in Sustainable Architecture
This East Brunswick renovation seamlessly blends Victorian heritage with industrial influences, drawing inspiration from the raw, urban character of Brunswick’s laneways and interwar factory forms. Designed with a Mixed Mode approach, the home integrates passive solar principles and active renewable technologies to achieve exceptional sustainability.
Situated on a narrow, irregular site, the project overcame spatial constraints with innovative solar zoning, thermal mass optimisation, and strategic material selection. Slanting walls and vertical gardens introduce a striking spatial dynamic, balancing privacy with abundant natural light.
Sustainability is at the core of the design, with high-performance double glazing, prefabricated insulated walls exceeding domestic R-values, and an air recovery system minimizing energy use. Solar panels provide renewable energy, while underground stormwater storage supports lush garden spaces, ensuring long-term environmental efficiency.
The result is a refined architectural statement—both environmentally conscious and beautifully resolved.
