This project reimagines a heritage shopfront and integrates modern apartment living, responding to the unique challenges of a narrow 5.5 metre wide site. The design balances commercial functionality with residential comfort, creating a vibrant mixed-use space along Brunswick East’s bustling Lygon Street.

A Fusion of Heritage & Contemporary Design

Drawing inspiration from the surrounding streetscape, the design reflects Brunswick’s eclectic mix of Victorian, Art Deco, and Post-War architecture, ensuring a cohesive yet distinctive presence. The renovated shopfront preserves the character of the area while introducing contemporary elements for enhanced usability and shopper appeal.

Above, the shop top apartments maximise limited space, offering modern urban living without compromising on comfort or style. Large windows invite natural light, while carefully considered layouts create a sense of openness within a compact footprint.
